TAITTINGER GRABS A CHUNK OF SAVOIE
Date: Fri 31 Oct 2008
Claire, the wife of Taittinger propietor, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, has purchased the noted Savoie producer, Domaine Les Fils de René Quénard. She has purchased a share of the property, along with Savoie negociant, Phillipe Viallet, because she loves the region and is at pains to emphasise this is not a Taittinger development, but a private one.
The estate makes highly regarded AC Chignin-Bergeron wines from roussanne grapes. The new management plans to take advantage of the proximity of French ski resorts to Savoie by opening a restaurant and cellar door operation at the property.
